I have found exercise works well for weight loss. Some exercises may be better than others, for some people, but pretty much any exercise is good.

Also, eating foods that are good for you, without too many calories.

Best and most effective weight loss hacks I have ever heard of.

I don't know what those things are, but decreasing carbohydrate intake and increasing exercise -- particularly running -- always worked for me.

    That's right.

I could move to the UK, and lose all the weight I wanted, because the UK food is so eh.

I would eat, only to meet my basic nutritional needs.

Do not eat out -- eating at most restaurants is like crossing a minefield, blindfolded.

Cut out or go easy on the booze. Not only is it empty calories, but, at least for me, after a few drinks, I turn into a junk-food-eatin machine.

Drink a glass of water at the start of the meal -- fill da belly.

    Use a smaller plate.

Don't reach for seconds. Start out with your whole meal on your plate, if possible. You can appraise it and maybe shrink the worst thing. If you are eating a little this, a little that, putting different things on your plate you'll eat more than you'd anticipate.

Realize that your stomach is slow to realize it is full. Stop when you "think" you are 80% full. This avoids that "how could I have eaten all that" feeling you get several minutes after you eat.

    Eat more healthy, vegetarian meals.

Don't wait until bedtime to brush your teeth. Do it earlier as a signal you are done eating for the day.

Do not eat while watching TV. The number of times I looked down at an empty party-size bag of potato chips!

Oh yeah, don't even buy junk food.

Lift weights, hike/bike a lot, and avoid sugar, junk food, desserts, soda, and overly processed foods.

Get good quality sleep. If you're well rested you don't want to eat as much in a futile attempt at compensation.

Oh yeah, only drink liquor-- less calories per unit of buzz than beer.

Eat real food. Don’t eat carbs at every meal. Natural fats including those in veggies, meats, dairy, and nuts are actually good for you. Sugars/carbs were never a normal everyday part of the human diet for 99% of recorded human history. Most people store fat, because the body has adapted to burning sugar for fuel. Without all the sugar/carbs the body will resume burning fats for energy, and take it right off the waistline. (This is the principle behind the ketogenic diet fad, although many people take it to an extreme) Simply cutting breads/pastas/sweets is going to be pretty effective for most western society persons. Also, while fruit is an excellent source of natural sugar, juicing fruit is not. Fruit has its sugars contained within fiber, than the body has to break down and digest to really get to the sugar. If you juice your fruits, even if you drink the pulp, your body has immediate access to the sugars. If you’re going to consume fruit, eat it in its natural form.

If that absolutely, incredibly beautiful Italian/Serbian American girlfriend tells you she must have bread with every meal, listen to her. And dump her, because she's not going to be a size 6 for long.

Eating slowly is huge. Takes 10-14 minutes for your system to tell you that you have had enough.

Eat at consistent times and stay on time. If you wait until you get crazy hungry, you will eat a lot more.

Sometimes my wife, out of love, will pack me a weekday lunch. It will be modest. I will eat it. Then go out and buy a second lunch . Am I alone is doing this???

You have to be realistic with meal size.

Keep an unflattering photo of yourself on your phone. Whenever deciding whether you should take another helping or eat some garbage, take a look at the photo.

-I don't keep junk food in the house, because I don't have any self control. If I want a snack, I grab a handful of baby carrotts (99 cents a bag!) or in the evening I'll make popcorn in the popcorn maker, because I can control how much salt is on it.

-I cut out most booze except for rare occaisions and soda. I pretty much only drink water and coffee.

-Eat more vegetables, and vegetable based meals. You'll be full longer, plus way less calories.

-Exercise, figure out a way to make it enjoyable. I listen to podcasts or music while I lift and watch YouTube and HBO while I'm on the elliptical.

Diet plays a much bigger role than exercise, but exercise is still important.
