I always thought "The Rusty Fenders" would be a good name for a pick-up dad band.

I knew a guy that did some folk type stuff (banjo/acoustic guitar/upright bass/trumpet) and they called themselves Dookie in the pants.

Back a while ago we were putting a band together but didn’t yet have a drummer or a name. Someone we knew was throwing a farewell party before he moved back to Chicago and asked if we could play: so we borrowed a drummer from another band and turned up and played, calling ourselves — with minimal imagination! — Gary Finlay’s Rock’n’Roll Party Band.
(It all went pretty well and we met our future drummer at the party too, playing in another put-together band: influenced by that starting point we played for the next couple of years as Abigail’s Party.)

No Brakes. A band that was helpless to slow down or stop. I envisioned a home movie of my 3-year old self going down hill on my tricycle with my feet off the pedals - no brakes, but a big grin.

The lead guitarist had the practice space and insisted that the band name had to start with "The", so we became The Brakes. It made no sense and many of our flyers went out as "The Breaks" - thanks to our drummer who was homonym challenged.

I don't think the band name made any difference. The drummer was the one that got most of our gigs in small clubs like the Moose Lodge where he'd lived in the neighborhood since his early teens.
