So sorry to hear that. Keep family close to them as much as possible during the next several months. My aunt and uncle lost their son Joey at about the same age to SIDS. Unprecipitated and unexplained. It just about killed my uncle.

When I look at the beautiful life I've been given I only wish I could trade the rest of my days for a second chance for that child...or ANY child. My thoughts are with you and yours through this terrible loss.

    This!

Faith, family, friends... In that order for me.

Faith is private, but family... They have to "first".

It's not unusual that a young family would not have the financial means to overcome a tragedy like this. And so is the case here. So my wife and I have already begun readjusting our budget in order to assist them, and we've started that same conversation with others in the family.

When it all comes down to it... We all leave this life with the same sum total that we entered it with - zero. So there is some solace for me in just taking care of the needs of others, with the abundance I've been blessed with.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. It was a very tough day. The song came off without a hitch.

I was also asked to speak at the memorial service tonight. That was tough, as I didn't have a guitar to hide behind.

I think we can now begin the next phase of whatever process we're in, as it relates to grieving. I make no pretense of having the depth of mourning as my brother-in-law and his wife, but it's still a very tough time for all of us.

Avoiding the "stained glass" language is the #1 lesson I took from a wonderful book called "The Dave Test"

Your gift of healing music at the svc is a clear indication of your love & devotion to the devastated family. Much better than a spray of flowers, if you ask me. How you keep it together - I have no idea... I melt down when playing Christmas in the Trenches...

Like the others have said - condolences & hug 'em.

    Peace - Deeve

Deepest sympathy, TGT, and more than a little empathy. We lost my four year old grandson about 15 years ago. It was ugly; medical malpractice was involved. I don't want to write about it.

Driving from Ft. Worth to Houston for the funeral with my younger son, who was five at the time, these lines for a song came into my head. I've never been able to expand upon them, but maybe they say all that needs to be said:

Life itself is all that's holy
Take big bites but chew them slowly
    Savor the flavor...
    Be here now.

Tex - I can't imagine what your family is going through right now. Losing a child is unthinkable. It sounds like you're doing everything you can to help bear this burden. Stay strong, the Danger family has yours in our hearts.

So sorry for the loss and condolences and prayers to your family. Stay close as possible, to lose so young an angel is unthinkable and your family will need you. Remember how lucky you are to have each other.

My God man....so sorry to hear about this.

    I have a 4-year-old, and I can't imagine losing her.

Prayers for your family. As you and others have mentioned, there are really no words that can help. But I hope you and your family find peaceful moments together, at least here and there.

So sorry for your loss! Death is so rough, especially when it's a young one who goes. I can't imagine how it must feel. . .
I do, however, know being asked to play at funerals. My first was when I was eleven and my grandpa died. My mom asked me to play the Stones' "Ruby Tuesday." I think I was in tears as I played.
Sorry again to hear about your loss, man. Rev. Gary Davis was right, death truly don't have no mercy.
