AVRI 74 Jazz Bass with and without the plates. I don't have a stage amp, use it only for the home studio.

They are in remarkable shape to be that old and the Ampeg looks pristine. Wow!

1964 Pre-CBS Jazz Bass, no mods, all original, neck stamped 7NOV64 A, pots stamped in May '64. I saw this bass in the window of a record store in Provo, Utah, in 1974. I bought it for $175.00.

Just won this dirty Danelectro Dan-o-Blaster for $100 on a local auction. It’s set up perfectly! Plays like a dream. Onboard chorus is lovely when the jack works. Luckily it has two jacks with the other being bypass that works great. Not a great photo of the Sterling as it’s more fiesta red/orange. Yes those are red LEDs and no I didn’t put them there.

My motivation is my 8 year old nephew plays drums so when I visit it’s nice to have something small for the car. As long as you have an OD it sounds OK. Good enough. I thought about getting a ZT but there are other things I’d rather have than a smaller guitar amp. It sounds great for bass. My normal rig shakes the floor even when it’s low so the PJB is great when I need to play quietly.

But think that’s Billy Sheehan. I love that picture. My user name is from an old Howlin’ Wolf song that was covered by Led Zep and Jimi Hendrix.

OK now I'm at my computer and can put a pic I took recently of the bass rather than the old one above.

This here partscaster has a flamey Warmouth neck and Alembic pickups. Baswood body from flea bay keeps the weight between eight and nine pounds- just on the good side of neck dive.
The SWR Workingman’s Ten lives in the (recently completed) home studio. I have it’s big brother with a 15” speaker for stage use in another studio for band rehearsal. C547C892-560F-41B6-BC4F-B7EB77897C68.jpeg

Those Kramer Forums were awesome. I had a couple 4 strings like that. Super fast neck. I had a Focus PJ too. I still have one of the Forums and I have a Ferrington bass which is big as a house. I know the brand is having a resurgence. I hope they make it because they punched way above their weight.

Version 1: Squier Affinity P with chrome flats, Zoom B-2 as a preamp, 210-watt Peavey M-3000 power amp, AudioKinesis 4 x 8” cab.

A bit undergunned for that outdoor gig, as it turned out.

Version 2: Crown MicroTech 600 power amp (750 watts bridged into 4 ohms), and a Behringer V-amp Pro someone gave me around the same time (JC120 amp model works well for bass), and a homemade “rat case.”

Then the virus arrived, and the band stopped. Mostly playing direct at the moment, through a Joyo British Sound or amp sims in BandLab.

Man, I love when fiesta red turns “UV-faded Pepto Bismol,” so I like how it looks in that pic. Like the Dano also!
