Hello, I'm going to order an 8-hole, single ply white guard from WD. My concern is that on the order form, it asks if it's for a MIA, or a post 2002 MIM. My guitar is a 2013 Lacquer 50's model. But the thing is, Iv'e put American pickguards on Classic 60's models, and it's a perfect fit.

Can anyone tell me if there's a difference?
Thank you.

WD is US spec. they fit my 52RI, Squier CVC, and MIM 60s perfectly.

they say they fit US teles and post 2002 MIM (yours) which is correct, but they are wrong about Squier because the CV/C are US spec. Im surprised they havent updated that yet.

My avatar is a CVC with a WD guard.

"This pickguard will only fit genuine U.S. manufacture Fender® Telecasters® from the 1950's to present day and post 2002 made in Mexico Fender® Telecasters®.
This pickguard will NOT fit an imported Fender instrument from manufacturing plants in Korea, Japan, China, Indonesia or pre-2002 Mexico. This will not fit a Squier® "

Thank you, Surfoverb. If a US gaurd fits my guitar right now, would I still want to specify a post 2002 MIM?

I would contact them directly. Last pickguard I ordered from them I had some questions and e mailed them, they got back to me right away. I believe it was Virgil who assisted me.

Seems others have had good experience with WD. I won't chance buying a pg from them. I had bought a used American Series Telecaster that had one of their pearloid guards on it. The pickup routing was too big and it kept tilting the pup backwards. A pick was shoved in their to keep it in place. Maybe it was just a fluke ,but I couldn't return it as I didn't purchase the guard. I ordered a Fender stock pickguard and the pup sat in it right. Let me know how it goes :)

yes they are the same. post 2002 MIM =US Spec

you should be fine ...Ive had 3-4 WD guards. I like them better than warmoth.

but why do you want an 8 hole guard on a 50s model? as late as 59 they were using 5 hole guards...they even had some 3 ply 5 hole guards on tele customs back then

here is a wd guard on top of my 52RI guard (the wd has a humbucker route)

same guard on top of my MIM 60s (this looks weird because its a 22 fret neck and laid on top of a really thick sparkle guard underneath, and a p90 on top of a bucker route-trust me it fit perfectly)

I want it because I've swapped the neck for an outstanding 60's rosewood. I'll post pictures soon, no, I'll actually do a complete NGD. It's my favorite guitar since my Rickenbacker 325. Telecaster/Esquire is my favorite sound, but I've not always had the best of luck.

Actually, I have a few great Teles, but this one is very much special, it goes the extra mile. The sound is full, and super bright. Chords bloom into a bright psychedelic way, the epitome of vintage tone, and it has more sustain than my other Teles. I'm very excited to own this guitar, and I'm passed the honeymoon phase.
