Waylon's Kit Tele

    Does anybody know the story behind this Tele? Funky headstock & with no strap button in front, it may have a Glaser B-bender. Waylon is so closely identified with his leather covered Tele, it is hard to glean much from the web. Any info would be appreciated. waylon funky tele neck.jpg

    My guess the headstock either got broken or just cut off.

    Yep, have to agree. That looks like a real blackguard to me that possibly had the headstock split along the grain so was cleaned up to make it straight. What's going on with the switch? Looks like something has been added or possibly jammed into the slot to keep it from accidentally getting moved.

    And...you can see by his lean to his right that his balance was off....the headstock mod was for weight removal so as not to fall to the left!?!?!

    I think this has come up before, actually. I don't think there's any documentation to this guitar. The last theory I heard was he just happened to be holding when the photo was taken.
