I have a video of Waylon performing Lonesome,On'ry and Mean from Cowboy Jack Clement's TV show in the 70's , and you can clearly see he has an orange stompbox on his amp .You can't make out if it has one or two knobs ... So either Phase 90 or 100. I also saw a picture of Shooter Jennings' pedal board on his live album . He's using a Phase 100. Just thought I could help...

I can get that sound with a Kustom K200 and Phase 90 with Tele in bridge position and 9's.

    The phaser is a Mutron...

Waylon's early phaser was a Mutron by Musitronics. A relatively large pedal that is AC powered with 3 large knobs (and corresponding blocks of color), a rocker on/off switch and the distinctive Musitronics "tuning fork" logo. It is still THE best sounding phaser ever. While others can get close, nothing else sounds like a Mutron.

Hey, I am the lead singer for the band Hillbilly Delux which works with Jerry "Jigger" Bridges. Next time I talk to him I will ask him if he knows exactly what Waylon used. I know that he has told me but my mind is going blank.

Bill H has an old Roland grey box that nails the sound.
