Really enjoying the Chicago’s Terry Kath documentary on Amazon prime!
Pretty cool to have Hendrix walk in your dressing room after your gig and say you the best guitar player I’ve ever seen.

He was a real talent, gone far too soon.

I love this clip, the solo starts around 2:00. I marvel at the humanity of it, it's not "perfect" but that's what makes it great.

I've got it on playing right now, I've watched it once before. you know, there seems to be a perception these days of Chicago as some lightweight pop-only thing, but when I first got interested in music, about 1971, they were one of the coolest, toughest, and most well-loved bands around. I loved their music and still do. later in the '70s (basically, after Terry's passing), they really were pretty lightweight, I guess. But, man, I hear some of their songs on the radio now and it's a sweet return, for a few seconds, to those oh so cool days when the world was a giant treasure box waiting for me to explore...

as for Terry's death, I have to say this shows the utter stupidity of treating a gun like a toy.

I'll have to watch it tonight. And if someone hasn't already done it, their Live at Carnegie Hall 4-LP set should be included on the Best Live Album thread.

    These guys nail it.

    *EDIT*

I really didn't know how good the guitarist for Chicago was until I watched this, then went back and watched live versions of Chicago.

Didn't Prince say his favorite guitar player was Kath? I remember reading that in high school, his specialty was playing 25 or 6 to 4...

Terry was one hell of a soulful singer too.
