Your WL's opinion is pretty much why I quit playing at our church. Yuck. Piano on top of everything.....the last time I played we did a couple of Lincoln Brewster songs and you could only hear the piano in the mix, no electric guitar :mad:. That was the last time I played.

Drums and Bass should be at least as loud as the vocals and guitar. Piano and acoustic should be background unless the song specifically calls for them to be in front. You should always be able to feel the kick and the bass.

It's a temptation I'm facing. Working on a servant attitude.

People who have only played in church, and only on their "lead" instrument, often don't understand little things like that. I'd just say "In any song whatever should be in front should be in front. "

This is often our biggest challenge.
There's a time to be a servant ---- WHEN YOU HAVE A GOOD LEADER. And there's a time to tell the guy in charge, "I don't think bombing Pearl Harbour is a good idea..."

When you're a hammer that's no longer being used properly (or simply neglected) go find yourself a better house to build.

When my WL says the piano is the lead instrument and should be loudest… I can’t finish here… ugh

So, all the thought and asking here, I am met today with the WL telling me he is leaning toward a suggestion by a friend of his.
As i presumed, I wish I hadn’t even been asked… just reinforces the solid jade.

    Bass player here

some of the suggested bass amps in this thread are things I’d have reservations about.

SWR is great but hasn’t been a company in over a decade, nothing is new.

tube amps are great but you won’t find an all tube bass amp in the price range asked for.

If you don’t have anything specific in mind than I would suggest a Rumble 500. If you get the combo you can add an extension later if needed.

Another good choice is the Mesa subway series, but they are a bit more expensive.

I like that example but even telling Tojo not to attack Pearl would have served the higher purpose of Japan's best interest. So, I'm considering this in terms of serving the church in spite of disagreements with the WL.

the rumble 15 also makes a pretty cool little guitar amp, in a pinch...
