I recently bought a 2nd hand Warmoth neck that was advertised as a boat-neck profile.

After looking at the Warmoth neck profile illustration and getting the feel of the neck and noticing the initials 'EC' (or 'EL'?) penciled on the neck heel, I wonder if the neck is actually an Eric Clapton profile.

(Or is EC possibly an employee of Warmoth?)

    It's a very pronounced V.

Pictures obviously don't tell the whole story, but if anyone has any notions, I'd dig hearing them.

I've played both. If you've played a fatback, or an allparts FAT, the boatneck feels like that (BIG), but with a vee-ness.

The clapton is shallower, which I think makes it 'feel' sharper, and narrower. Put a caliper on it, as the depth should be noticeably different between the two.

Finally, my money is on Clapton, because of that pencil-mark.

From that photo it's definitely a hard "V" which makes it a "boatneck" so as gtrjones suggest measure the depth and that should tell you whether it's Clapton or not. You could also call Warmoth an ask. I'm sure they can give to an answer.

Back in 2007 I received a Boatneck Strat neck from Warmoth and that had a really strong V shape, not the usual Boatneck shape.

But thick, a full 1 inch thick not thinner like a Clapton.

Wonderful shape, very nice neck indeed. This neck impressed me so much, it played a big role in the shaping of the necks I've done since then with Tommy Rosamond and USACG.

Your neck looks an awful lot like that one Warmoth sent me.

Thanks for the info. everyone. I'll contact Warmoth and see what they say.

Looks more like EL to me - EL = Elliptical. Just a thought
