That intro might be a little difficult for anybody not named Steve Wariner. I can play almost all of it until the very last phrase before the song starts. The notes themselves are fairly easy to figure out, but the counter movement of the bass walk up and the treble lick completely eludes me.

Yep same here. I've got it up to the counter. We've been doing that tune for a while but I'd love to learn that part the right way. I guess that's the reason Chet gave him the boot. lol. Fired for being too good. He's definitely a monster player and a helluva nice guy too.

Well, I can't play it...

...but here it is.

Code:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Title: Baby I'm Yours (Final Intro lick) Artist:Steve Wariner
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: JB

Tuning: Standard

E|-2h3-2-0--------|--------|-------------|---------------------------|
B|---------3-0----|--------|-------------|---------------------------|
G|-------------2--|--------|-------------|---------------------------|
D|-------------1--|--------|-------------|---------------------------|
A|-------0-1-2----|--------|-------------|---------------------------|
E|-2---4--------- |-0---<=== first note of song riff-----------------|

He's as bad as Jerry Reed. Alien-like in the ability to move fingers and hands in opposite directions.

Awesome jb. Many thanks. He's definitely one of the few pickers that smokes it everytime I hear him play. There's only one other guy I can think of that I've never seen choke every now and then. A local hero of mine named Robert Shafer. He won the National Flatpicking Contest a few times. When he straps on a Tele and throws the right hand fingers in, he floors me. I'll post a link. Ya fellas should listen.

With all due respect to Steve (he is an awesome player and great guy), the contrasting counter melodic lick on the "Baby I'm Yours" intro goes back farther than that song. It's actually a Jerry Reed lick. Jerry showed the lick to Glen Campbell. Glen used the lick in his hit song "Southern Nights". If you listen to the intro and turn-arounds of "Southern Nights", you'll hear the lick but with a different feel. Steve's version is a shuffle feel. Glen's is a straight-eight, half-time feel. Check it out.

Finally got to sit down with this lick. Once again JB, thanks for the tab my friend. Now if I just had one more finger on my left hand
