what kind of tones - with a Fender amp?

I'm curious about the BP pedal. Can it get you close to Brads tones if you're not using a Z / Vox type amp? Or to ask another way, will this pedal thru a Fender 6V6/6L6 amp come close to Brad's tones, or is the EL84 amp still much of the equation?

I played it through at Marshall AVT150 and it sounded pretty close to Brad's tone to me. I've got a friend of mine that has a HRDx and he said it sounded great on his too. It's truly a great pedal. If you listen to some of the clips Brian put on the site ((link removed)) you'll hear him playing through a Fender amp on one of the clips.

I have a hot rod deluxe limited edition (with the western tooled tolex) with a Texas Heat speaker, and the paisley drive sounds incredible with this amp as well! I'm serious, it sounds sooooo freaking good! Until now, my main overdrive on my board was a Fulldrive 2 mosfet, but the Paisley Drive kills it! the notes are clean, thick, articulated and the pedal has a lot of gain too and sounds awesome at every settings. So far my favorite setting is gain around 11-12, tone 1-2 and both switches in the up position. I have a Crook custom tele and 62 custom tele CIJ and both nailed that Brad paisley tone with just Tele>paisley drive>amp (add some light slapback delay and its heaven lol). Get that pedal, you'll be glad you did!

I won't go so far as to say that it's a "Dr Z in a box", because it's not, BUT it does go along way to getting you Paisley's tone. Which is ironic, since, while he uses pedals, including this one, he doesn't get his tone from pedals, he gets 95% of his tone from AMPS. That being said, it shows just how amp-like this pedal really is!

I just noticed that Wampler Cranked AC is out of production. Was it cause the new Paisley drive sounds very similar to it with a few more options?

Mine arrived an hour ago, making its way over the ocean and then through the snow and ice. Maybe it's the first one if the UK? Anyway, too much work to do right now but in for a treat tonight...

Can this pedal do that early Paisley tone...oh you know, hint of grit on a '63 Vox AC30 when you could HEAR the actual guitar's tone and not a thick midrange mess ?
I'm thinking this ???

And fwiw, "Long Sermon" is my favorite Brad Paisley song and tone....I'm an old timer in the BP camp

JohnK24 - it can do it. Just use the recommended settings, up the level on the pedal and lower the volume on your guitar.

SN, Long Sermon was the first BP intro I ever learned. Great stuff.

You DO realize that's a Dr. Z behind him, not his '63 Vox, right?

And I prefer Paisley's tones from MOTT-forward... his first 2 albums tone didn't sound much different than all the hired Nashvill guns like Brent Mason at al. Starting with MOTT, Paisley had a tone that was instantly recognizable as his.

Hey GBUK
Did you get it yet?
What has it cost inc. import duty?

I got it at the introductory price. Now it will be the website price, plus 30 dollars shipping plus import duty. I think the import duty may vary a bit but 20-30 pounds is about right.

I had half an hour or so with it last night through a 30watt solid state Session amp. Observations...

It doesn't make me sound like Brad, but then again I can't play any of his licks so that's not surprising.

So if we take Brad out of the mix, what do I get? Well, first of all it's a warm sound with very usable tone and gain controls - most ODs for me are too toppy and have too much gain, restricting me to the first fraction of what those knobs do. With this pedal I really feel I can tweak tone and gain to get exactly what I want, and even better to have a few usable sounds rather than just one 'sweet' setting.

Another plus point is that both switches are very useful. You can really hear the difference that the presence switch makes, and both settings are usable. The mid boost switch has three settings: off is fine, a bit of boost with some high end too is great, and the full on mid boost is awesome. I can really imagine using all three settings at a gig - just a simple switch flick to give me a choice of three sounds depending on the song and the acoustics of the room.

So although it is pricey I feel as though I can have just the one OD pedal on the floor, coupled with delay and tremolo, and I'll have plenty of classic sounds for the sort of music (country/rocknroll/blues) that I'm playing right now.

Shame that the old band has just folded and the new one is a few weeks away from the first gig, although I do have an opportunity to use it live in a couple of weeks. Can't wait.
