That is a diagnosable accumulation of guitars and amps. Apparently you can try to buy a thrill.

This is great. Lots of stuff that I could buy and place in my own, relatively obscure estate sale some day.

There are plenty of Fenders, Gibsons, Martins, and other main brands. Hell, he also owned a Martin amp. I might throw a bid on that one to go along with my '69 D-28...

Prices seem low but sure desirable items will be bid up and then all the fees will make prices soar.

Oh yeah . He was still chasing the dragon, it was just a different dragon...

(And in both cases, the water never changed to cherry wine, the silver never turned to gold…)

It will be interesting to see how the auction plays out. It's definitely the largest collection of guitars and amps listed by a celebrity in a very long time. You usually get a few guitars and a ton of junk like old credit cards, stage worn clothes etc. There's about 956 guitars and amps and over 300 effects pedals, that's a lot to move in one auction.

When you have a co-write credit on that many classic rock radio hits, that are played multiple times every day, all around the world, I expect the royalty checks are ridiculously large and very frequent.

I want to say that he just wanted to keep a good selection of gear on hand for recording purposes, but there's just so much that it almost seems obsessive compulsive. It's as if every time he found something he liked, he'd call up the manufacturer and say "Give me one of everything!"

I wouldn't be shocked if a good portion of that stuff is still in its box unused.

That F.cker Assman combo on page 19 must be rare, I haven't heard of those before.
