    When did this happen?

Maybe it’s time to rethink keeping it!

I mean ... you can ask whatever you want I suppose ... if that's the actual trend I assume it is related to it being a seller's market due to everyone having disposable income burning a hole in their pocket

No surprise. Unobtainium and unicorn dander prices have been steadily rising.

That’s what the Reverb price guide is reflecting: a steady rise then spike in selling price.

I wouldn't pay that for one, unless Analogman stopped making them - and even then, probably wouldn't pay that for one. Great pedal but I just wouldn't pay it. Wouldn't pay klon prices for a klon either. There are some excellent aftermarket klones that come plenty close.

I have never heard any pedal worth $700.00 no matter what it does. Of course I do not possess golden ears like some seem to think they do. I think I hear good tone well enough and if I heard it any better than I do there would be a lot more people off tone and I wouldn't be able to play with them.

    "Selling for" or "listed for"?

There's a $165 (CDN) guitar from Amazon being listed for over $500 on Reverb, but I can't imagine it will sell for that.

Is it still 2020 in Australia?:lol::lol:

We are closing in on a 4 year wait now.... I ordered mine in August 2018, and I realistically expect to see it in 2022, maybe 2023. I wish I had ordered sooner, but it is what it is and I respect Mike's integrity for not caving to commercial pressures....

Apparently “selling for”. Reverb has the price tracking guide.

oops, did I write 3 years? hahahaha.. I guess my mind is still in 2020. LOLOLOL..

Only reason why I'm not in the list is because I tried them and it didnt really work for me.. although they sound really good.. I stuck with my Timmy/Tim all those times I had one on my board 2-3 years ago before the used price hike recently..

and also due to cost.. I'm already looking at 400-500 AUD for a fully optioned out KOT, while I can get a Kingsley tube overdrive for the same price (Which I did actually)... dont get me wrong though, whatever Mike is charging for it, its absolutely worth it.. it sounds great! but like I said, it just didnt work for me, and also due to changing my rig, Ive fully converted my overdrive/gain section to tube OD/preamps I have no use for SS/transistor based pedals anymore. hehehe..

Apparently so. Prices went on the rise since Mar 2020.

The whole pedal market has gone kinda crazy....surprising since live performances have all but vanished. Demand [and prices] seem to be up over the past year...

Haven't they always gone for more used than new?

in synth land, there are reputable builders every day selling clones of open source stuff for less than 300, that they build as their side hustle. i don't know why you would pay 700. it's a blues breaker with some mods, and there's exact clone pcbs and kits available. i'm sure you could find someone competent to build it for the new price (or less) and get it immediately.

    Hi.

Here in Japan, they occasionally come up for sale with people wanting around the equiv. of US$850 - 900. Like the first one here.

The ones following, at around US$180, are listed as clones, but really, they're fakes. They seem to be made by a company called 68 Pedals, which also makes / markets at least two more clone-like versions, the "all Seeing Eye" and the "King of Clones," both with a triangle logo instead of the compass logo.

Also, as the second image shows, real ones do actually sell at the US$900 mark.

    Hi again.

The King of Clones gets good reviews, but personally, while I don't really have a problem with cloning pedals as such (they're usually just simple,* non copyrightable circuits after all), I do have a problem with the aesthetics / presentation rip off in this case.

And most super definitely with the ones shown as "King of Tones" / "analog.man" in my previous post.
