I've been a big fan of the sounds that Brad Paisley gets out of a Tele into a Vox style amp. Enough so that I built an EF86 driven 18 watter years ago that was designed by Dan Lurie over at FYD Amps (I just got it back from Dan in the mail yesterday. Still very cool.)

But I've long thought that, as Carl Verheyen says, that a guitar, amp and drive pedal are a combination, that they really are a set, a system. So I've just made this video history on AC30's (see below) but it left me wondering what Vox style amps everyone is using with their Teles AND what drive pedal do you pair with it.

Thanks in advance for your answers here.

    Pathfinder 15r. No pedal necessary.
But...for more fun, I go through a Surfy Bear reverb unit, and run the line out of the PF into the FX return of a larger amp (with a bigger speaker) using a spark clean boost to balance the FX return signal.
It turns the little 15r into a monster.

I play through a Vox mini-super beetle. It's not Brian May, Brad Paisley cool, but it works for me. It varies pedal-wise. I recently got Wampler's Paisley Deluxe, so I'll be occupied with it for a while. Before that it was a lot of the JHS Bender Fuzz for my Jimmy Page fantasies.

I have a few Vox amps (AC4 BL, Pathfinder 15R, mini SuperBeetle). I really like my Tech 21 Liverpool to fine tune the tones I am chasing. I also like my Timmy and Barber Compact Direct Drive into my Voxes. They all sound great with a Tele.

Tele through my '65 AC-30, but mostly through my newer AC-15...

For pedals, just a '79 Distortion +, chorus, and a string of delays.

Tele>Flying Tomato>Tim>AC15. Anything more is merely extravagance. (although I do use more)
Tele is my favorite guitar through the Vox.

Single coils through the great, little AC10 C1, sound excellent.

    My fave: Tele=>Timmy=>AC10

    Tele > OD > AC15HW1
    Tele > OD > MVX150C

I don’t even need the drive pedal but the boost is nice situationally. Big fan of the Vox sound.

I saw in a documentary that Dick Denney used a telecaster when he was designing the Vox amps.
My usual gig rig is Tele + AC15c1 (Greenback) or a Vox Cambridge 15 depending on the size of the venue.
Wampler Euphoria is the base OD but that depends on the gig of course.

I really enjoy your videos, saved the AC30 video for later!

i used a vintera tele straight into a vox ac4 for awhile for P&W. no reverb, no pedals, and it really sounded good.

    AC15HW1.

Usually just straight in with MV bypassed, but if I use any OD it's either a Timmy, or a Revival Drive. Or both!

    Ac15hw1, mostly straight in. But:

I do use a Naga viper sometimes. I dime the normal channel of the amp and set the eq of the pedal about 2 o’clock.

i also run the vox stereo with a 5e3 through a radial bigshot. The dark 5e3 is a nice counterpoint to the brighter vox.
