I have the MV50-AC that I've only played into a 112 16 Ohm Fane AXA12. Does a great job in my little room but I don't know that I'd feel comfortable with those tiny switches on a pedalboard.

Would you believe Vox didn’t include that bit of info in the owners’ manual? I can’t find it anyway.

I learned about it in another forum thread. I guess this feature is an Easter Egg?
I actually downloaded the manual (today), just to make sure I didn't miss it. Lo and behold, it isn't in there!

The portability of the MV50 line would make them great for just scratchpad noodling with headphones, and I probably would have ended up using mine more regularly, for this specific purpose. It's still sitting on top of another amp, next to my Atomic AmpliFIRE, collecting dust.

Anyway, I did a little research/digging, and found that quite a few folks weren't that thrilled with Vox's cab emulation, but sheesh, at least there is something there, as opposed to nothing! That's why I never even tried using mine with headphones, because just a strict line out has always sounded pretty bad, IME.

I have a Mini Superbeetle which has similar amp but with separate bass and treble, reverb, and tremelo. And 2 speaker outs.
It sounds great clean or driven. I got a second matching 1x10 cab to run it at 50 watts. Quite loud. Not quite my AC15C1X, but not 47 pounds either!

Were you missing sparkle as well?

Speaker hunting is an expensive sport, I've already put 600 euros in this portable setup (pine 1x12 cab, Tornado, Vox MV50), that's a lot of money for a meh sound : /

Yes my headphones are high impedance (I think 250 Ohm), I tought it was a good thing haha. Interesting.
I have the same pair of headphones. I can concur that they sound terrible using the headphone jack on many devices, such as my BOSS IR-200, MacBook Pro, Fender Mustang Micro, and others. I can only use them when I have devices patched in a Peavey PV6 mini soundboard. These headphones are designed for large consoles with strong headphone amps. They sound fantastic on my 70’s Technics home stereo amp.

I also don’t think they are voiced well for guitar in isolation. By comparison, my Shure SE535 IEMs have no clipping, and sound fabulous. They are brighter and more articulate and don’t need to be driven as hard to get the notes blooming.
