Vox AC30CC2 or AC30HW2 or Top Hat King Royale

    I am looking to get a 2x12 Vox and the three listed are available locally used.
    I know two are quite a bit more than the CC2.
    The AC30C2 is not an option

    Anyone own some or all of these?

    I already have an AC30CC1 that I really like, just looking to get a bigger sound with 2x12.

    I have an AC30 HWH, the head version. Sounds great, but the combo is heavy! They sound very close to old JMI AC30s, IMO.

    extension cab with your CC1? you're not picking up watts with these other amps, just one extra speaker (and a few extra pounds). I have a Gold in a solid 1x12 cab that I use as an extension for my AC15 and it makes a difference on a big gig.

    If you're trying for a slightly different sound, I'd look for something with an EF86 option -- I have a Bad Cat Black Cat 30 that's basically a weaponized AC30 with an EF86 channel and I find that I rarely stray to the 12AX7 side. By the time you get to the King Royale or there HW, you're up in some pretty refined territory, might as well get what you want. (If it was me, I might experiment with a "Muchless DZ 30" from Ceriatone. I've had good dealings with them in the past.)

    I thought about getting an extension cab. But I have OCD when it comes to matching pieces and I dont think there's a matching 1x12 cab for the AC30CC1.
    Buying a 2x12 cab would almost be as much as just buying an AC30CC2 amp

    Have the ac30cc2 with Eminence legends. Sounds great with no mods. I'd say go for it. Lots of tonal options and can get that vintage ac30 tone.

    The Top Hat is one of the finest built amps you will ever see and sounds as great as it looks....but $$$

    I found a Top Hat King Royale 2x12 locally for $1300 and looks like it's in great shape with a greenback and a weber alnico blue dog.

    I'm not too worried about speakers. I have an alnico gold, a creamback H, G12H30 and a vintage 30 sitting around doing nothing at the moment.

    I'd go with the Top Hat. The 'mid' pot helps a lot, IMO.

    I found an AC30CC2 for a good price in good condition.
    It has the wharfedales.
    I have several options to change speakers out.
    Alnico Gold and Vintage 30 at 16 ohms (8 ohms each in series)
    Alnico Gold and Creamback H at 8 ohms (16 ohms each in parallel)
    Alnico Gold 12" and Alnico Gold 10" at 16 ohms (8 ohms each in series)
    Alnico Gold and Wharfedale
    Vintage 30 and Wharfedale

    I have eminence legends in my cc2. The alnico gold combo would be interesting.
