I've been looking for something in a head form to replace my Ac15CC and got roped into going with my wife Saturday. Went by a Mom/Pop store and they had an AC30CC in a 1X12. It was used and the reverb didn't work, would replace anyway. It was comparable weight wise to my AC15CC but much lighter than the AC30 2X12.

My question is, are the 112's out of production? Are these older versions of the CC? Basically the same amp just in 112?

To compound things even worse I went by a GC while I was out getting parts for my son's science project and they have the AC30CC w/warfs on sale for $839. BTW, the used 112 was $550. The used 112 was taller and no double handles for easier carrying.

For the right price I'll put casters on it and buy a dolly.LOL!

the 1x12 is the same exact amp at the 2x12 CC except for cabinet size & speaker. I've got one, like it, dropped a weber blue dog in there and I'm not completely sure it was worth it -- the Neo is not at all a terrible speaker, and it's a lot lighter. One of these days, when I think I've got money, I might try a Gold in there -- Wayne Alexander, TDPRI's Vox sheriff, says this sounds much like the 2x12 blues.

Bottom line: great amp, loud, powerful, versatile. And $550 is a great price. 3 bills for the gold & you're back in the barn for the same price as the 2x12 with wharfedales, in a smaller lighter package besides.

Thanks for the info. I kinda feel like a moron after a bit more searching. All my searches for the AC30 112 was coming up nada. Apparently the 112 is a CC1. I've noticed they all have CC1, CC2 or CCx, but I thought all of those referred to whether it had warfs or blues in them. Just happened onto an old thread from 2007 that enlightened me on that and helped with the search function. LOL!

Live and learn.LOL!

Bottom line is you think the AC30 112 with the broken reverb for $550 is a good deal? I would've replaced the rev anyway.

If the broken reverb is broken because of the tank, a new Accutronics tank is $30. That's a spectaular amp, at least if you switch the Neodog speaker (which is sterile and cold sounding) to a Celestion Gold.

The guy who has it for sale has a Warehouse ET65 in it that he likes, but a Weber Blue 50W Ceramic that I could choose from. He says he likes the ET65 better but it's my choice.

So here are my choices:
AC15 HTVH @ $750 Used
AC30CC1 @ $550 Used
AC30CC2 @ $839 Brand New

Mr Alexander, your advice would go a LONG way with me. A few tid bits to add. I play weekly at Church, once a month at an outdoor deal and once every other month at another outdoor deal. One of the outdoor deals will be un mic'd. We do mic up at Church. Bottom line is, I play out quite a bit, but not a money maker at it. I'm not broke by any means, but I also don't want to throw money foolishly. We intend to add a club here and there as my time permits. I recently left one company of a long time as CFO and took the CFO position at another company. Predecessor was underwhelming and I'm knee deep in catch-up.LOL! My time will get better very shortly.

I keep saying this over and over. If you want the "classic" Vox sound it has to be Celestion Blue or Gold speakers. No other speaker gives you the same magic. Some others come "sorta close," like the Eminence Red Fang, but the sound will be less three dimensional and a bit Marshallier. The AC30CC ones are a lot more versatile than the AC15TVH, and the 15 doesn't have much clean headroom at drummer/club volume - fine if you play semidirty and dirty all the time, but if you ever need loud and clean you have to have the 30. The AC15TVH is a "better" amp for pure tone but does not have a master volume, and won't give you loud clean sounds if you need those. It does have a half-power mode that's good for bringing the volume down some, but not to bedroom levels, and you lose some three dimensionality with it. If you never need loud and clean, get the AC15TVH and a 1x12 cabinet with a Celestion Blue in it. If you sometimes need loud and clean, either of the 30CCs would be fine, but get a Celestion Gold for the CC1 and Celestion Blues for the CC2. Avatarspeakers.com is one of the cheapest/best places to buy the Celestions.

Have you considered looking at the classified and online auctions for a British made vox?

You might end up shelling out a bit more cash, but it will probably be worth it. If you are lucky it might even have an lush old Celestion Blue in it. It is true with Vox (even though they sound great with all speakers) blues make it sound just right. Nothing beats that old Top Boost Circuit. There is voodoo in those two dials.

Well, I'll probably get shot for this, but I done did it.LOL!

My Mother in law bought a new TV at Best Buy Tuesday, I stopped by to haul it home for her and noticed that particular BB sold music equip. The one closer to me doesn't. Didn't have time to peruse though. My wife and son wanted to go to another store close by last night and I thought what the heck, I'll look at their stuff.

Get in there and a 16 yr old kid is working the dept and I notice they have the AC30CC2 on sale for $839, that's not what's advertised on their website. Hooked up and played and it sounded beautiful, even with the Wharfys like my AC15CC. I'm hee-hawing around and he tells me he has coupons for an additional 10% ($84) if I'm on the fence. Well now my interest is peaked, $755 for a brand new AC30! My wife walks up with that "What are you buying now" look. I explain the magnitude of the deal and she says, "Wait. They gave my Mom a $105 gift card when she bought the TV. She said you could have it for hauling it home and hooking it up for her."

I can't turn down brand new for $650. I asked him if they had any unopened, that one had a stain. He comes back and says, "This is the only one we have left, but it just has Celestions not the original vox loudspeaker." I told him I could learn to love that one anyway I'd take it. As he was ringing it up I felt guilty. I told him to go get his manager. I couldn't enjoy that amp knowing some 16 yr old kid paid for part of it. The manager shows up and I explain the true price difference. He says he appreciates my honesty but I'm speaking Greek to him and he just needs a sale from that dept. Paid and told my wife and son to follow me and let's get out of here! LOL!

All in all, I am in the process of unloading a perfectly good AC15 to lighten my load to a head and wind up picking up and extra 20lbs. LOL! I stopped by Sam's Club and got a two wheel dolly and I'll cope!

Sorry so long, but I'm so excited!

An AC30CC1 w/ a 12" for $550 sounds like a pretty darn good deal to me. I'd hop on that and get it into the shop for the reverb fix. Ride the existing speaker for a while and save up for the Celestion Gold as mentioned above. I run a Gold in a 1x12 with my Winfield Cyclone head (an AC15ish clone) after trying some webers and others. Amazing speaker that really does make a big difference. And you need the gold with its 50w power handling.
