It was the casting beyond Ralph Macchio and Steve Vai that made this film work. Joe Seneca as Willie Brown really was believable. A tough old bluesman that you hoped could break that deal he made. Joe Morton was soooo smoooth as Scratch’s assistant. Robert Judd made the perfect Legbah.

“Now that ain’t no reason to break a deal.”

Nothing like that I'm afraid, just lots of Dennis Wheatley books growing up in the 60's and came across Aleister Crowley's book on the back of a story in Melody Maker or New Musical Express on Jimmy Page's interest when he bought Boleskine House outside Foyers on Loch Ness in Scotland just a few miles up the road from my hometown.:D

I'm glad you found the aura.

I'm thinking, people need to bring an intense frame of mind with them, from elsewhere, to get any magic in these parts now. The place is so cleared out, depopulated of the kinds of musical kindred spirits. All that remains is Casinos and Factory Agriculture.

I'd recommend the pre-historic Mounds structures left by peoples prior to Christopher Columbus, around North Mississippi. More spiritual energy in these, I think, and this is one of your original sources behind guys like Johnson in the first place.
