Film strips, slides & 16 mm movies. You were labeled the mechanic if you were the one always helping the teacher or doing the setup. This probably means we have members who knew or know how to splice film.

My town seemed better than surrounding ones for doing actual field trips. My kids had that luck too.

they were the best and when played backward by a cool teacher on a Friday it was awesome- think about which is harder playing a youtube clip or a film projector

The all time best field trips were from a pair of science teachers who taught middle and high school and had personal passion for birds and fish. They did summer school field trips with 5th grade through high school on same bus. It wasn't just cool trips to streams, nature areas, sewage plants and camps. It seemed like the older kids were same high school girls who were city pool lifeguards and they guarded the young kids from older guy bullies.

A community Facebook page has in essence repeatedly illustrated the two men who did those all school district field trips over 40 years were a super influence on 1000s of kids.
