So I’m seriously considering getting one. I’ve played a couple and they were fantastic. Has anyone had any negative experiences with this model?

Go for it, as long as you get along with the "U" neck.

Sounds like you're already sold on one.

I'll wager you're going to change the saddles.:)

What's wrong with the stock saddles?

stock saddles are fine. brass three barrel.
I had one but returned it. Mostly because the solid white pickguard and the sonic blue washes out against itself.
The neck was good. Little sharp on the edges, but ok. Loved the U. The vintage frets were small but usuable.

If it had a different color combo I'd have kept it.

Wow - changing a pickguard takes like ten minutes. Not sure I'd return a guitar for that reason...

I’m pretty sold on it. I LOVE the neck. And yes it would definitely get some shiny new saddles :)

For anyone who has the sonic blue, how well does the color in person match the pics on fenders website? I’ve only seen and played the red one.

I have not seen the Sonic Blue, but I played a Daphne Blue at a local music store (Vintera 50's modified). That color was much nicer in person.

I played one a month ago and found it fairly vintage. Frets and neck were just great. Pickups had a lot twang. I may get one myself but it may have to be the modified one. That one comes in a butterscotch which is a finish I don't have. I don't need the 4 way but...

    Nice guitars. Good price too.
    Congrats

He has an aftermarket saddle business. Go to the vendor section and look up the "Fat Saddles".

    My comment was in jest.:D

I came close to buying a local one, and sort of regret I didn't do it. On top of the fact I think it's likely a very nice guitar, I love the sonic blue color too.

I keep finding myself looking at the Vintera 50s, too! I believe it would be a great choice.

I tried a fiesta red one and really liked it. Waiting for a used to pop up.
