Hey guys,

I picked up this beauty today at my local musicstore.

I have to say i am both in love with the sound but also massively underwhelmed by the QC of Fender.

Check out the bridge:

So for some reason only the part of the bridgeplate next to the pickup is polished and shiny, the rest seems to be like a production error.

Also take a look at the screws of the brass saddles. They would easily cut your palm while playing. So the screws needed to be shortened.

Also the tuner of the low e string is broken. It makes a „clack“ sound while turning, the resistance goes up and and the string loses tention. I wanted to swap the tuners anyway.

Not sure about the bridge, i feel like its kind of cool.

Fretjob was okay. I need to sand the ends, it’s still a bit rough here and there, but don‘t want to overdo it.

I like the sound and the pickups. Usually i am very pick and the pickups are the first bits being replaced. But i like these so far!

Cheers
Pip

that's a standard classic Fender bridge plate. It's meant to be like that. I suspect there would be an uproar if they changed it.

That plate was originally covered by the ashtray cover and no one was meant to see it. But we know how well that went . . .

You'll get used to those screws when you develop the tele callus. (Wasn't he in Kojak?)

Sorry about the tuner, though. That's not good.

Your first photo looks like the bridge screws are fine, so did you adjust intonation before the second shot? I would measure from the nut to the saddles and see if you're anywhere near 25.5" before I shortened those screws.

The luthier at the musicstore took care of that and shortened them :) that‘s why they look fine in the first picture

Hi @Pip1988. Your post is very timely as I have the exact same guitar with the same intonation screw issue. My two other Teles when properly set up have the saddles much lower on the bridge plate so the intonation screws are safely below the strings. I have considered either shining the neck to lower the saddles or trimming the screws. I’ll probably go with trimming the screws because the set up is pretty good. The only other thing I will do is trim a few coils off of the springs to allow for a better range of intonation adjustment.

Otherwise everything on my guitar including the fret ends and hardware was in good condition.

By the way, the color is the reason I bought this model. I’ve been waiting for a reasonably priced model for a long time.

I have the same model. Mine had sharp fret edges too, but they were easily filed with an emery board. If doing that, just remember to tape off the frets first.
I also put threaded 60s style saddles on, just for 60s vibe, I also changed out the pick guard for a 3 ply white one, yes everyone will flame me for it, but mint green I found, just didn't look great. I've owned it 4 years now, and it plays as good now as it did then.
I had put AV64 pickups in but put them in my vintera 50s, and returned the 60s to stock pickups, which I have to say have grown on me with time.
