Glad to be back for the 2013 Build Challenge:lol:

I choose to take part in the Experienced class, because I still don't know what kind of material I'm going to use:confused:

So far, you are the only one to represent the Benelux, I think. Go for it.:)

Hehe Best of luck to you, and best of luck to you, when you go scrap hurting. That part I always love, because as Robert said, there are so many possibilities.

Thank's guys,

Finally I know what to build :!:

First I show you what I'm not gonna build. Both the 2011 en 2012 Challenge guitars where made out of metal, so it must be something different this year.
In the first place I thought to use brass. I was allready started with one but decided to pass this project to the future.
[IMG][/IMG]

But what to build instead of a Brasscaster??? First let me tell you that I didn't build any guitar for the last half year. The inspiration was gone, and I picked up an old hobby which cost me a lot of time.

In May we went for our holiday to New York, and there the inspiration came back. with a case full of ideas I had to choose something for this years challenge:lol:

This years Tele must be an all American Telecaster. Body and neck are very basic, and will be made out of Pine and Mahogany. The "fun" will be in the finish, so I hope everybody will stay to the end of the challenge:lol:

Somewhere between these blocks of Pine must be 3 pieces to build the body. The Mahogany looks very dark, but that's because it was stained.

And yesssss, we have a official heatwave in the Netherlands:cool: Pffff.

This morning made an start with the neck. I love the smell of mahogany in the morning.
First made the trussrod channel, and after drawing the centerline, cut the neck out.

And here is the rough neck (the template is still attached to it).

Because of the heat and high humidity, we are not used to it here, stopt after an small our of work.
I think this is going to be a slow build this way. I'm going to need the whole two months I think:oops:

Maghnoghany is going to be one of my next necks. Love the way it finishes and feels.

Good luck with that heat wave... We're all in this together.

Still going slowly

In the meanwhile radiused the neck with a nice vintage 7,25" radius.

Today the postmen brought this package with parts

Now I have all the parts to build the guitar.
