    Hello All,
Can anyone give me some info on what I am being told is a vintage Tokai Telecaster. It has 3 pickups like a strat with a colored headstock. Other than the 3 Pickups it looks similiar to a Tele. Here are some pics to check it out.

Judging by the logo style its a 1986 or younger
So not really the vintage tokai's
Might still be a very nice guitar though

    Google tokai registry

I haven’t seen a Tokai Tele body with a custom edition Strat headstock before.
Are there any letter and number codes stamped in the body cavities?

I am not sure. Should i ask the seller. He says there was only 3000 of this model made?? Looks like the strat headstock to me.

I would, if it’s a genuine ‘80s Tokai body, it should have some specific Tokai codes.

This is an old post, but I thought it might be worthwhile to comment that Tokai appears to have fitted strat-style necks to tele bodies, and vice versa. I have seen a few such guitars here in Japan, and tried out a custom edition strat with a matching-paint tele neck just today. I have no idea why Tokai did this, but then the Japanese often have a bizarre itch to change or mix things up, when others would leave well-enough alone.

custom edition info is hazy at best they weren't in catalogues
also not beyond the realm of possibility someone just put a Tokai neck on something else
this is your code you're looking for

tokai body routing is also very specific and easy to pick.on tele's extra holes in the corner of the neck pocket are a good indicator
