When did Fender introduce the Vintage Hot Rod 52 Tele and has it always had a Thin Skin finish?

I assume the Fender Thin Skin Finish was originally only available from the Custom Shop? Anyone know when it was first used?

When did Fender first offer the Thin Skin finish on a non Custom Shop model, and which model guitar was it?

I believe the Hot Rod series debuted around 2007.The thinskin term was used by the custom shop even back in 1990s on certain models...no doubt on the reissues and relics which is how the vintage 50s and 60s guitars were made.

The Eric Johnson Strat was the 1st non CS model to get a thinskin finish.

The Road Worn Teles and Strats were the 1st MIM made guitars to be painted with a nitro finish too.

In '82 is when they started "reissuing" certain models... 52 tele, 57 strat etc... I think... then came the 62 tele, jag, hot rod tele... what is now known has the American Vintage Reisue AVRI.
