I was poking around the series of tubes, and found this:

    https://www.ehx.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/1970-ehx-catalog-page.pdf

Entertaining, as these things usually are, but among the Weird Things I Didn’t Know About was a Bad Stone version. I just sold off my red/black Bad Stone. I have had it since the early ‘80s, and I loved it for the Manual setting, not being a phase shifter kinda guy normally. I always thought it would be super-cool if the manual control was via a foot pedal, rather than a knob. Who knew that EHX made a Bad Stone pedal? Well, someone knew it, but I sure didn’t. If I ever find one, I am definitely going to... who am I kidding, if I find one, I won’t be able to afford it. :(

    You mean like this?

    https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Badstone--electro-harmonix-bad-stone-phase-shifter-pedal

Yeah, same circuit smaller box, according to EHX. I have it. I love it...depending on what I'm doing. If you want Phase 90 type stuff, this is not for you. if you want radical phase-y sweeps or cocked phase stuff this is the pedal for you. Instead of being a 360 degree phase shift like say the Smallstone, Phase 90, Berhinger VP1, and Grand Orbiter, this thing is a 720 degree sweep. The only phase I know of that comes anywhere near this in terms of sweep would be the old Maestro PS-1A. That is a 540 degree sweep, if I am not mistaken.

Yeah, I haven’t tried the reissue, but I hear it’s as close to the original as makes no odds. I toyed with the idea of adding a pedal control to the manual sweep, but didn’t really want to mess with a perfectly good 40 year old pedal. I could always buy a reissue and mess with that...

Dang it, now you stop that!!

I really like mine. It's almost always on my board...sometimes I have to take it off and use my Phase 90, but it really depends on the set list.

    This place is the worst.

I have sold five pedals so far this year (OK, I bought two, but that’s a net reduction). I have also gotten rid of odds and ends projects that I will never finish. I’m in a good place. Now you want me to not only buy another pedal (like one I just sold) and turn it into a project?!?

    This place is the worst.

To be fair I am just goading you based on another post. Whether you cave or not is based on your own willpower. Besides, all the cool kids are doing it.

I have the reissue bad stone it is pretty cool. Drill a hole, 3 wires to the pot pads, a stereo jack, and you are done. Not much of a project. Sorry to be an enabler.

    Thanks for posting this catalog.

Among many things entertaining in this, I never considered the Big Muff to be "low distortion".

This ad reminds me what a rube I really am. "It's got electrolytes." Oh, ok. I'll take it.
