A bit embarrassed to admit it because I rank on country music a lot.

But I've seen Vince do some helacious picking on youtube - so I bought tickets for his show in September.

Am I going to be OK?

I won't come out of there wanting cowboy boots or anything will I?

(I'd wear toenail polish before I ever donned cowboy boots)

Well, I saw some photos online of Vince Gill's show at the Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheater a few weeks ago and he was wearing shorts and flip-flops, so I wouldn't worry too much about the boots.

He's not just a good guitarist, he's got the voice of a dozen angels. Consummate musician who makes it look easy, and it's not. Quite a guy, would love to see him.

Vince is the perfect mix of Albert Lee and Larry Carlton.

and he has one of the most beautiful voices ever.

I convinced my wife to see Vince with me last year, now she is a convert!
He puts on such a great show, and is very gracious in showcasing the entire ensemble. Fantastic story teller, too. Love the stories of his father!
But his playing and singing are stellar.

Everyone gets to pick the music they like to do most. For me it's blues and blues flavored rock. But how can any guitarist/musician not dig Vince Gill, Albert Lee, Brent Mason, Guthrie Trapp and those guys? I mean, good is good!

I haven't had the chance to see Vince in a standard country show, yet. But I did see him, along with Amy Grant and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, in a Christmas show a few years back. Great show, he even brought out a Tele for a couple of numbers, and as others have said, can he sing! Now I'm gonna have to check his tour schedule. . .

I agree with knopflerfan, vince is highly underrated as a guitar player. Enjoy the show man I have seen him live once before and thought it was great.

Anything that happens to you as a result of seeing Vince is something that needed to happen. Like a poster above, I'm an old-school blues/rock guy at heart, but Vince is just an absolute monster in every way.

    Thanks for the heads-up.

I just checked his schedule and he is playing at a county fair
    not to far away.

Last time I saw him play in our area was probably 12 years ago
and I've been dying to see him again. :D

I expect you'll be impressed. I saw him with the Time Jumpers recently and it was a wonderful evening of music. All Country, the good kind played by the best in the business.

Vince is a prodigy for sure. He can literally play most any genre' and play it extremely well.
Country or not, I listen to him.

    ^This!

AND, Vince is a player's player. He's genuine. He's not a "new" country, flavor of the month, shiny belt buckle kind of guy, so my guess is that if you don't like country music now, you won't like it after the show.

You MIGHT become a Vince Gill fan though...

You'll definitely be wanting a Tele afterwards. Enjoy, I wish it was me.
