I do not "Like" on YouTube - they use the likes to make a profile of you.

I looked it up.

"YouTube wants to make sure that video views are coming from real people. That's why a YouTube view is only counted when the following two criteria apply:"

  1. A user intentionally initiates the watching of a video.
  2. The user watches it on the platform for at least 30 seconds.

There is some other algorithm for shorter videos.

That's interesting. This leaves YouTube a lot of weasel room, and they get to decide what "intentionally initiate" means. For example, say I'm watching a Rig Rundown. When it ends, the next video automatically starts, usually with an ad at the beginning. I'm often not paying close enough attention to have noticed what the next video is, and when the "skip ads" button pops up I click it to find out what the video is. By clicking "skip ads" did I "intentionally intiate" the video? I would bet YouTube says the answer is yes. It's in their interest to maximize view counts.

I don't "like" videos because you have to have an account and be signed in to do that.

I see no need to create a YT account if I can use the site without one.
