I thought I had just bought one of these. The box was WAY heavier than expected...

    Yeah, there's 10 in all!

Lots of experiments coming soon! A roughly 8-10 watt 5881 version is up first. Also going to try a reduced voltage Tung Sol 6V6. A 10" combo with a vintage '69 CTS that I have, or a maybe a WGS Veteran 10.

What's really annoying about making those is that the chassis cost two or three times that of a Princeton or Deluxe chassis. Cabs also, unless you make it from scratch.

They were on an eBay listing, and billed as 'NOS'. What I didn't notice was that it was the whole lot of 10 for $75.

I might let a few go.

I didn't notice when I ordered them that it was for the whole lot.

I'm going to start by ordering 2 chassis from the Arkansas guys. That'll save me $10, and cost less than one chassis from Mojotone. I'll probably order a 10" combo cabinet from Mather. I may also order a head cabinet, possibly from Mojotone.

You got one heck of a bargain then as they are usually that price for one

Exactly, which is why I thought the price was for one! I think I payed around the same price for my blackface Bassman replica faceplate.

BTW, I compared these to the other faceplates that I have. They are slightly thicker and heavier than the blank Mojotone Princeton Reverb faceplate. These feel like steel and the Mojotone feels like aluminum. My Bassman faceplate is even thinner aluminum.

Also, the construction of these seems very similar to the blank brownface 6G7 faceplate that I got from the Arkansas guys. Probably 16 gauge steel and silkscreened.

After all the money I've dumped into my 1967 Super Reverb. It might be a few weeks before I get to one of these, but stay tuned!

Wow. That seller was lazy. 10 of those would bring easily $400-$500 sold separately. You were willing to pay $75 for one... Looks like it just payed for your next build!

I'd be interested in one for my silverface that has ---- you scratched in it. (Have to wonder who scratched it and why.)

Just Remember... NO grill Badges allowed with this faceplate! LOL ;)

    badges-we-dont-need-no-stinking-badges.jpg

The FEICs didn't have the badge and some of the early FMIs didn't either

Yeah.... I know that I'm guilty of having an amp that does. But I bought it that way and there is a clean bright spot if I remove it. Mine shown several posts above is actually a '72 SF. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

No, no logo, and no corners. Just like the Princetons. Although, I believe they didn't even have tube retainers. That's not good.

Like I said, I want to build loud giggable versions. May have to go up to a big bottle, but I'm going to try 5881s and 6L6s first.

Bedroom level rockers are on the table also.
