A fun fact about Slap Shot: the movie that probably best captures the lewd, crude sexist behavior of a locker room was written by a woman! Her name is Nancy Dowd, and she based the script on her brother Ned's stories of his career in minor league hockey.

Even more fun fact: Ned Dowd is in Slap Shot. He plays Ogie Oglethorpe!

That movie is in my top ten. I will never watch the remake.

Engelberg: [Takes half-empty pint of whiskey from Buttermaker's glove box and holds it up] You're not supposed to have open liquor in the car. It's against the law.

Coach Morris Buttermaker: So is murder, Engelberg. Now put it back before you get me into real trouble.

Hollywood is completely out of ideas, it's pathetic. So many bad remakes just for the quick buck...

The worst part is that PEOPLE PAY TO WATCH. Imagine if you could see The Rolling Stones for $5 or a modern day cover band for $20?

The DVD I bought has the original soundtrack, it wouldn't be the same without the music. When did you buy your copy? Mine is one of the first DVDs I ever bought so probably around 1990 or so.

As long as they leave To Kill A Mockingbird alone, I'll be okay with it.

I liked both True Grit movies. The original was of course John Wayne. And that was almost enough in itself. But, they took some liberties with the book to make the movie a little less gruesome. And John Wayne had an acting style.

The Jeff Bridges version I thought captured the book better. If John Wayne had never made True Grit, this is the movie we would be talking about. Bridges captured the essence of Rooster Cogburn better than Wayne (IMO). And the kid they had play Maddie Ross was perfect.

As far as Slapshot, not sure I care....never really liked the original. But I have friends who love the movie, and hopefully it will be done as well as the second True Grit was, and not as poorly as the second Ghost Busters.

I dunno, when they did the movie version aka remake of Charlie's Angels and they managed to do exactly what the original series did: Take three hot women and turn them into totally a-sexual beings no one would want to know, let alone date.

With Garry Shandling gone, I don't know who they could get to play the Godfather. Maybe Chris Rock could do it.

Target, early-to-mid 2000s. In other words, when music licensing got too prohibitively expensive.
