Heading to Ventura, SoCal in a week. Flying as my meds are screwing with me and I won’t drive it feeling ill. I’m looking at Craigslist, Face Book pages in the area and trying hard to avoid L.A. I’m looking for a rig to leave at my sisters as I’m down there 2-3 times a year. I’ve found a few amps I want to play, but a Std Squier Strat or Tele seam to be non existent. Not particularly picky but rosewood neck is standard for these. Is $150-200 out of the question? This is what I normally play (badly) but I don’t want to be without a guitar for the time I’m there.

I have Ventura brand guitar that was made in Japan and distributed by Bruno and Sons back in the 80's. It's a cool guitar, 3/4 size Baroque parlor guitar with a solid spruce top.

Anyhow, I'm sure that's less than helpful, but it just jogged my memory.

Seems like the Ventura Craigslist is pretty active. Not sure if you'll have a car or be using Uber while you're there.

I’ll use my sisters car to look.

I ordered my Black Paisley Telecaster through them. It was a great experience.

If you make it north to Santa Barbara Jensen’s is a good shop with some used gear. All in all the greater Ventura/Santa Barbara gear market is ok but not great IMO. The Guitar Center in Oxnard carries some used gear and may be your best bet. A brand new Squier on sale doesn’t cost much more than a lot of the used ones.

GC was within my scope, I’m basically looking for a cheap beater I can setup and leave for a few months in a gig bag.

Found a Std Squier Tele @ GC, shipping to the Oxnard store. Can’t wait to hit SoCal next week. Yay NGD next week.
