Ever see those plates on a vehicle that just make you laugh when you figure out what they really say? Lots of them are just peoples names and initials. Some are representations of their businesses. In California we are allowed 7 characters with a half space I believe. This includes numbers 0-9, letters a-z and a few special characters. Bones posted in another thread (have to give him props for this thread idea) about a funny plate that has 8 character spaces.

Some just are plain funny. I especially like the ones that get in the most words. Years ago I saw "IM1RU12" and figured how can you beat that for amount of words? But the people are extremely sneaky and funny.

So, what would your vanity plate say? And If you don't have one, make one up!

Wife had one for awhile, "6FTBLND". I've seen a few that I thought were interesting.

Never liked them, thought they were a waste of money and reduced my anonymity. Then one Christmas or birthday my adult children bought me plates with my family nickname. How could I refuse? They're on my vehicle and as far as I can tell hardly anyone notices.

I hear ya. Unfortunately us Californians spend a frequent amount of time surrounded by thousands of cars. Mostly on a daily basis. Vanity plates here are like dealer options almost. They are everywhere. So when we are in traffic we see them and chuckle at the creativity of some people.

I had FOAD on my Harley. Before that, I had DM-AD&D on my 300ZX. The cost of one here in Colorado is too high for vanity so I'm not interested in it here. If I did, I'd get one of the Colorado for Kids ones and have CTHULHU as a vanity plate :D

Yet California isn't even in the top ten of the states with the highest percentage of vanity plates. Virgina is the state with the highest percentage of vanity plates, 17% of registered vehicles in Virgina have vanity plates , in fact 10% of all vanity plates in the US are in Virgina.

I don't need "vanity" plates to get noticed seeing as my car was designed in 1949...

Lot's of my classmates have them though, usually a variation on their nickname.

I don't have a vanity plate now, but I used to have one. I bought one of the first New Beetles in 1998, and my license plate was 8TH BUG. A lot of people asked me if it was the 8th one built, but it meant that I had owned 7 VW Beetles prior to that one.

My wife has LOV SUN on her Toyota. In Wisconsin, I saw SPF 0 on a Saab convertible. I have thought about seeing if that plate would be available in Florida for my Crossfire roadster.

Unfortunately, EADGBE is taken in VA. Wish I'd thought of that one years ago.
