    I'd guess at about 4 - 500 in perfect shape

    Value goes to the lowest valued part, so MIM price... maybe 400?

    I'd say $400 too, and what exactly is a "special edition" MIM neck anyway? I have never heard of that term.

    $ 400 is tops.

    Hate to say it, but even that price is because the seller could part it out. Otherwise it is worth even less, current market.

    Yes, I would definitely consider chopping it/ebaying to get some more cash out of it.

    IMO nothing special about an American body vs. a Mexican body.. in fact they may start life in the same place.. but an American neck is more specialer than a mexican neck.. so this guitar is essentially like a nice MIM with upgraded electronics, or just upgraded pickups, since the MIM series uses the same pots now right?.. so about a MIM price.

    Those aren't special edition necks, they are the new standard for MIM necks. They started in 2011. Some 2011s (I'm assuming from early in the year) are still satin but they went to gloss as the year progressed. My MIM Standard Strat was made in August and it has a very glossy neck (fretboard actually). The glossed necks continued into 2012 and are the norm now. If the seller is claiming it is some sort of special edition they are full of it. Check MIM Standards on the Fender website and, under the 'specs' section, you will see that they list a glossed fretboard.

    Not as true with the new MIMs.

    It's possible that the neck came from a special or limited edition guitar (custom colour order) etc. but it adds no value as it would be the same neck. Seller may not be trying to "pull" anything by saying that.

    Thanks guys. The guy is asking $500 with gig bag. It apparently had a bad truss rod so he bought a MIM neck from stratosphere from an FSR. I offered $450. He hasn't replied yet.

    Oh, if you love a thin neck, a neck with a dual action truss rod, a neck with an existing microtilt ability, sure they're more special.

    But these features are essentially a liability for me.

    The guitar the O.P. has talked about, has a potential issue. If the neck plate has that 5th hole, someone could attempt to adjust a microtilt where the heel is not compatible for it and it could be damaged this way - it could already be hurt.

    Well I'll have to check for the microtilt on mine, and I have no preference as a player between truss rods.. but my MIA neck is much thicker than my MIM (blacktop) neck. Both are very well made. I suppose my MIA may be on the thick end of the spectrum of MIA necks, and MIM on the thin end.. I understand that they all must be hand sanded and so come in at different thicknesses.

    Perhaps I should have limited my comment to my two guitars :D

    I'd agree with $400 - and I'd hold the claim that it's an MIA body suspect until verified.

    Or you could just buy a new MIM -15% (about $425 total) the next time MF has a sale and get one with a warranty.

    Who knows what else the the guy did to it or what other parts are not original.
