uBlock Origin is far better than AdBlock. AdBlock is dinosaur tech at this point.
And AdBlock sells its users out, not blocking certain ads if the advertiser pays enough.
I've used the ad-free option for several years, and it's always a little shock to my system after I (typically) ignore whatever warnings I've received and let the year lapse::::bingo! An unnavigable mess, but a few buttons and a $12 hit on the ol' debit card and I'm back in the saddle.
I have used Ad Blocker NOT AdBlocker for years and never get ads. It costs me 439.99 for two years and I can spend hours on the internet without troubl. I can listen to whole concerts without an ad. Hope this helps.
Lots and lots of reasons to upgrade having nothing to do with TDPRI. Both system protection and functionality have greatly increased in the past five years. Whatever protection your five year old browser gives has been figured out circumvented by advertisers, trackers and hackers about 4 years 10 months ago.
Vintage Telecasters are cooler than cool; vintage browsers not so much.
Another vote for Brave. I just use their built in ad blocker along with DuckDuckGo privacy extension. Zero pop-ups. Zero times getting redirected to someplace I don't want to go. Links I do click get blocked if going someplace else - for example, if I click a link for REI, a site I use often, but the actual link is routing through an advertising tracker website before getting to REI Brave will block it and show the actual address being used.
For ads, at most I sometimes see a block on the page with plain text saying the requested page (i.e. an ad) cannot be loaded.
All correct. I switched from AdBlock to uBlock Origin a year or two ago.
uBlock also provides a way to add premade lists of bad sites to block.
Honestly you guys, I don't have any of these problems. My Ad Blocker blocks out all ads. No need to change anything. I'm using the latest version of Firefox and I don't have anyone selling my information to anyone. I don't get rogue emails or adverts on the side bar or in between the posts. Also I can watch YouTube or anything else without ads. I don't know if you're using an older version but Ad Blocker eliminates all these. Try going to www.download.com which is cnet central now. But they try all the latest tech on the internet and it is all tested to be malware free. Most of this is free and pay. So you can to pick your battles but whatever works really good stick with it. I got the Ad Blocker from www.rentanadviser.comNever knew this--always wondered why people complained about ads haha
