That was a fun exercise I did today.

Amps, Tremlord30, PV50 classic 212, PV Studio Pro 65, and Hammond GHIA head.

Studio Pro has Fender Princeton 65 12" in it, the Classic 50 a Blue/G12h pair and only 2 power tubes. GHIA thru 210 closed cab run decoupled with only one speaker, a RAM Rod. Open speaker acts as the decoupled port.

I got 105, 97, 95 and 93 DB.

Anyone wanna guess which did what?

I'll site results after some posts. I will say i got a surprise.

I own 3 amps...a Louis Electric Columbia, a Carr Telstar and a Reeves Custom 50. Without a doubt, the Reeves blows everything away.

Mesa Boogie Mark IV and V combos. I'm not running that test!
Mesa Mark V 90 & Mesa TC-100 here — I’m not running that test either.

@robt57 For those who want to participate, which phone app did you use? Does it have different modes? Are you looking at overall average over a period of time or simply peak volume?

If you want to get apples-to-apples comparisons, then we need to control the variables. That includes the speaker(s) too. — at least the same size & number across your amps (ideally using the same speaker(s) because sensitivity can make a difference).

Decibel -X on Android.
Don't know if it has top reading, saw 105.

Btw
Studio Pro loudest, then Classic 50 212.

The G12-80 112 (OrangeCab) closed back was lowest.

The SP65 and GHIA/Decoupled Ram Rod sounded loudest to the ear.

'74 TR and Marshall 100w MOSFET, both are ridiculous and will bring the Cops.

Maybe on my sub 20w amps.

I'm pretty sure I'd knock things off walls with the Fender 75 lead and both 2×12 Peaveys. I can crank my Excelsior, Supro BK12, bugera v5i, even the Frenzel on half power or quarter.
But not the 5e5, Peaveys. And certainly not the Frenzel or 75 on full. Probably not the 75 in low power mode either.

I had to get really creative when recording the bigger amps...

A healthy Lead 75 is pretty much as loud as a 100w Twin, maybe louder. The two channels are staged together, plus the push-pulls and bright switch hit the frequencies that really drive 'louder' delivery.

FUCHS Overdrive Supreme 30w 110db
DrZ ZWreck Jr 15w 108db
Divided By 13 CJ11 11w 105db

All 12” single open backs. Les Paul middle position straight in.
All of them sound glorious.

Edit: The Fuchs was on clean setting and it was the fattest full clean, not distorted.

You know,
That reminds me that I have never dialed that thing into any single coil guitar since my first tele. I've used the bright switch on humbuckers, but my mim tele was way too brassy sounding with bright on.
It's probably about 10 years overdue fir a checkup, but I need to at least pull it out in low power mode soon.
I'll need it if I start doing grunge again, nothing else I've ever owned has reverb like that thing.
Push pulls: pulled the bass one in a small bar for 2 covers and the empty glasses on the other side of the wall started walking across the smooth countertop.

Bartender told me later that he told people "7 nation army's on, you're gonna need a refill".

Lol, yea I've used mine with its 15" Eminence and aluminum dust cover at a street festival just because it looks JBL cool, and it totally slayed at volume. I put it a good 12 ft behind me, and it was echoing back from the buildings across the street...I felt like a force, EC at an amphitheatre, just awesome. Glad I got to do that. Back to the thread..

My 5W Bugera T5 has hit 106dB, but I’m pretty sure my 100W Peavey 2x12 can top that. I’ll test it one of these days when I have the house to myself.
