    middle position pickups on anything but a strat. I mean they do look cool there, but c'mon

    For soloing, I agree, but I find the middle position on all my guitars (no Strats) to be my "rhythm" setting.
    I use it for "strumming".
    I never use it for soloing.

    brookdalebill, to clarify, I was talking about 3 pickup guitars, are you?

    I agree the middle position (both bridge and neck pickup) is very useful

    I find though that except for on strats, middle pickups, in between the bridge and the neck pickups are pretty dumb :)

    I'm sure some like them , and, if you're one of those, more power to you...

    When I used old school Fender amps, they were indispensable.
    I would kill the reverb with it for rock (I hate reverb on crunchy guitar), and add tremelo (which I love) to anything I wanted.

    I've noticed that when people want to sell their vintage amp they fish around in the cabinet and *hey presto* there's the footswitch.

    Damn right. They are not cheap either. Judging by the use they get, you would think you could buy them for $15 bucks or so. With my Fender amps I simply take a short cut of an rca cable and wind the wires around eachother a couple times to keep the trem "off".

    Just about everything I have is useless anymore.
    Now if you are talking about -stuff- and not -junk- well, thats pretty much crap too.
    I will never admit all my stuff is useless just because to have actually purchased all this crap would have been -illogical-
