I spoke with USACG earlier in the day. The new owner flew in, told all the employees it was closing down, the website came down (seems to be back up, if temporarily), and shut down all the machinery. The new CNCs will be gone by the end of the week. I'm hoping all previously existing orders have already been filled, but if you need to speak with them, get in touch by email this week before the entire operation completely evaporates.

Maybe that's why they were selling off random necks they had in stock like a lucky dip a few weeks back.

I wonder if the new owner is Fender or was offered a deal by them to close up shop?

    What?
Bought the company and shut it down?
I guess this is the future of American manufacturing, or really of first world manufacturing in general.
Of course as money shifts those poor countries with cheap labor are no longer third world, but long trusted brand names from places like USA, GB, Italy etc are more and more just wholesalers selling Chinese goods.
I wonder what products will be sold under the USACG brand?
Odd given that the brand name states the product is from the US.
Maybe it's more like Gibson did and they are only closing the factory and firing the workers but will open a new factory elsewhere with cheaper Murican workers?

IDK who owns who any more but it seems there is a move toward a one owner system.

It's like that in every industry including our food supply. When I grew up there was a small family owned grocery store/delicatessen on most street corners. All replaced now by large gas stations, franchises or corporation owned mega stores a short drive away.
It works much like the court system, the one with the most money wins.
    Resistance is futile.

I believe they were being courted by a big buyer not long ago, but it seems like it must have fallen through and doomed the company since the owner is uninterested in continuing.

Update from my initial post: the website seems to be live again, but I would stay far away from purchasing anything from it given the situation 8 hours ago.

I was the recipient of 2 of those necks. 1 completed, the other incomplete. Both nice necks regardless.

Did not see this coming if true. I'd just assumed they were cleaning house, which, in hindsight, is exactly what they were doing.

Wow. Well, to the members that forewarned us of the new owner I apologize. You were right.

Maybe it was an anniversary sale a couple months back? I think I may have gotten 10-15% off of my initial order. The programmer at the time had mistakenly made a standard heel neck for a wide heel body, so I ended up buying one of the rejects at a discount and had an additional body made for a friend. USACG called me to basically say they have to get everything out the door within three days because there might not be anything left next week. Everything there is already being packed.

I'm not sure that anyone has. It sounded more like the machines were being sold off, and the stock they have is going to be handled by some other party.

I did a short internet search, looks like the original owner (Tommy) was bought off a couple of years ago, and the new management followed a different business plan.. rings a bell.

This. . I've been using them since the take over a year and a half ago...

the problems with USACG have multiplied ever since Tommy was dismissed, the new administration simply did not understand the guitarist's needs, and were unwilling to make any changes in their business model necessary to accommodate us.

Unfortunately for us, I hear Tommy has found a new niche in commerce and will probably be staying where he is these days. While I'll miss him, and our conversations, I wish him smooth sailing...

Dammm I knew this was gonna happen... sux.
