Nice work, CT...I love how the warm soft-attack soft-clipping guitar blends in with this.
Is there a better possible application for the Purdie Shuffle than this progression and changes? Not in my book. Even without Donald Fagen singing, this tune seems to convey all the 1970s SoCal disaffected alienation that seems to run through his lyrics. Maybe that is just my take on it, but that hits me hard when I hear this song—instrumentally as well, as it turns out. Nice choice, and nice execution!
