I can understand why a creative person would want to keep creating art their entire life. There does seem to be many artists who were able become socially relevant during a certain period of time, but that is fleeting. It's cringy to watch artists who still think they are on the forefront of the zeitgeist (for lack of a better term). Let the next generation have the floor.

Tend to agree. I’d consider myself a fan, but have lost interest since Psychedelic Pill

THIS Is when it was time to stop.

I like that output, personally
And I don't like, like, ANY kneel jung crap
But that trans stuff is so stupid i can't help but like it, in spite of itself

I collect bad attempts at rockabilly, and his was one of the worst, just cringe-inducing

But as bad as that is, at least it's not that "flying mother nature's silver seed" stuff

When I was a kid, I first loved the Beatles.
The next band that caught my attention was Buffalo Springfield.
The first Beatle album I owned was HELP.
My next album was Buffalo Springfield Again.
I actually heard BS’s eponymous album before Again, but didn’t have the finances to buy it.
I was 10.
So, like with Sirs Paul & Ringo, I can’t give up on Neiler just yet.
He and Stephen Stills have a big place in my heart.

I continue to admire Neil Young's willingness to experiment, even though some of his experiments fail. I think he's great. I don't always like his albums, but now and then he still comes up with a winner. One of my favorite songs of his ever is "Ramada Inn" from Psychedelic Pill, relatively recent. I hope he keeps it up until he can't anymore.

Artists of that caliber will always have a fairly large segment of fans interested in anything they put out. I mean at the end of the day any artistic endeavor isn't gonna connect with everyone anyway. Nor is it necessarily intended to. So I don't begrudge anyone making anything. I will just say not for me and move on.

Neil is one of the all time greats for me. Do I particularly enjoy his more recent stuff? Not so much. But not for me then. Doesn't make me think any less of him nor do I feel he shouldn't be doing something he clearly loves simply because I don't.

So as an ol' dog myself part of me says "do what you want, enjoy."

I can always look away.

Another part of me says "damn man maybe it is time."

I saw Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull on their 50th anniversary tour and it was bad.

30 year fan of Tull and his voice drove me to leave after the third song, really bad.

I respect those wise enough to know when to step back, Arsenio I am thinking of you.
