I'm almost finished watching all the seasons of "Forged in Fire". If you don't know it is about forging knives and other edged weapons. Before my wife and I started, we knew none of these words or phrases:

    Cold shot
    canister steel
    Delamination
    Recurve
    Hogging
    indexing

I wonder if I missed too many other work terms or slang in my life. Are there some good ones unique to your skills that should be shared?

When I was young, a long, long time ago...
I worked in an underground mine for a couple of years and that environment had a language all it's own.

    Drift (tunnel)
Jackleg (air powered rock drill support)
    Borehole (Vertical ventilation shaft)
    Rapwrench (12" Ridgid pipe wrench)
Heading (working face of a new tunnel)
Decline (tunnel at an angle to travel between levels)
Bay (short tunnel off to the side of a tunnel)
Skip (cable drawn rail car in the decline to move workers and equipment)
Cage (Open wire elevator in a borehole)

You’re breaking up, repeat? (You didn’t like what was last said by the person on the other end of your radio).
