This thread is a counter-weight to the 'Successful bands who are overrated' thread.

My nominee for the band who should be wildly successful but aren't - The Wildhearts, and their offshoot/side project, Hey Hello. Ginger Wildheart is one of the most prolific and clever songwriters alive IMO. And they've got a new album out that you need. Wildhearts have been around in one form or another since 1989, and it's a lock that there's at least one great song on each of their 9 albums.

Their older stuff is pretty good, too. The man knows how to write a chorus. (Oh, and this video is live, no overdubs or lip-syncing here.)

Ginger took some time off from The Wildhearts and put together a project called Hey! Hello. Also really good.

That's my underrated band. Who you got?

Any band that Blowtorch is in is better than 99% of whatever is "popular" these days. Dude can really write great songs

I’d say the reason Wildheart never broke is because they’re about twenty years too late.

But gosh, The Wedding Present should be a household name here in the states by now...

Most underrated thread that should be huge but isn't. At least not yet. 20-25 pages is the minimum standard for 'huge'.

    Give it time.

I'll agree on all of them. But Squeeze didn't do too badly, at least here in the NY area.

Rockpile was definitely an opportunity that most of the world missed. I got to see them live behind 'Seconds of Pleasure,' and it's still one of the greatest rock shows I've ever seen.

For better or worse, Nickelback was pretty huge. At least until they dropped that dopey 'rock star' song.

The Welsh rockers Budgie and the mostly Brit band UFO should have been huge. UFO did a few stadiums in their time, but Budgie?, they always seemed to be the opening act ( and every time I saw them, they blew the main act away :) )

Clutch deserve to be huge too.
