Yep, that's it. I had a pointy guitar that I didn't like, and some guy on CL wanted a pointy guitar in trade. I had to drive to Croton to get it, but I like the amp a lot better than the guitar.

It is indeed a 1987x circuit, though I made some slight tweaks.

While the 100 watt version is most often called a “plexi,” the plexiglass front panels on the 1987x also mean they’re often called plexis too.

The difference in the preamp circuit is minimal, but the 50 watt “plexi” has a slight grindier character, mostly due to the lower output.

That was one of the things that has made me cringe at this thing for the last few years.

It’s currently running into a 2x12” with Celestion V30s, but I am planning on two 10” Greenbacks for a JCM800 combo I built (pay no attention to the dust!):

That’s the second recommendation for a matching cab...

It looks like, when I have surplus cash (a rarity these days), I may need to figure out what awful tolex they used and get a matching 2x12” cab!

I agree, I think a matching cab would look killer.

I think nubtex was also used on Hiwatts, Fender cases and amps (from mid/late '59 til the black tolex era) Orange amps and cabs, Sound City amps, and a few more I can't recall at the moment. :)

Some spray clear coat first so the bleed under the tape is clear and then color coat will have a crisper tape line.

@JohnnyCrash if you are going to go through the trouble of pin-striping that cab just bite the bullet and spray paint the entire cab black and be done with it!
You can leave the chrome badge at that point I think it would look outstanding. :)

It's a very cool amp but it looks DIY.
I would also spray it black and put the logo in a horizontal line - I'm not sold on the orange TBH.

At the risk of hijacking this thread, I absolutely love this guitar. I think it deserves a thread of its own! ;)

Where did you get the "Super Lead" emblems?
