Questions from a rank newb -

I am experimenting, and expect to receive a RevivalDrive Custom and a Cab M later this week, and I'm wondering about any experiences you might have with this combination?

I am wondering about using the Cab M's amp emulation, or if it's better to only use the speaker/mic IR's?

I'll definitely experiment with this and see how it sounds, but if you've tried this I'd appreciate hearing your experience.

My first goal is to get my chain of guitar, pedals, RevivalDrive & Cab M into headphones via Cab M's headphone output. I realize this is just scratching the surface, but I have to start somewhere :)

I'm excited about being able to explore amp tones and especially cabinet and speaker and microphone combinations, and learn how they sound and work together. The idea of being able to play "ampless" in addition to incorporating my tube amps ( that I love ) using this equipment is really interesting!

Since the captor x wasn’t out at the time.

I got the black torpedo captor and the cab m.
I use it same as you will to good result.
(im sure you know already , but the cab m cannot take an amp load.)

You will have many hours of moving mics on different cabs.
    Load some IRs as well.
I get good results using my tube amps or preamps like the tech 21 character series in front of the Cab M. I bet the revival drive will sound great too.
I tweak things on the laptop app, too fiddly on the cab m itself
My fave Mic settings are sm58 on the cab and a ribbon about a metre or so back in the studio with the lightest reverb. The power amps can be switched on/off. I like the el34 push pull and 6l6 single ended.
I save a few faves in slots and they are my go to.
    Enjoy it when it lands

    Thanks guys.

I did actually cross post this at TGP, it's a good suggestion.

My guess is it's a fairly specific combination of gear, but I'm starting to get the drift of this stuff.

I've been tweaking and twiddling for the last day with the RevivalDrive, I haven't gotten to the end of it yet!

Just to close the loop - thank you Shango & Mad Kiwi for responding!

I've been able to put all the pieces together and... it works!

I have MUCH to learn about cabinets and microphones.

The software is nice, and I figured out how to make it sound nice in headphones too. Next stop is output to a clean amp ( maybe I'll advance to a powered monitor eventually ).

After that, getting my attenuator configured as a load box and using its line out into the Cab M.

Maybe before that I'll need to get a bigger pedalboard, and more cables.

    Thanks everyone for your help!

Do you mean power amp, or have I not discovered a preamp in the CAB M?

I just checked, mine is running firmware 4.2 and claims that it's up-to-date.

    And ZOMG - it's now a C.A.B. M+ !!!

I've found the preamp, the new power amp featues, the Mic bypass buttons, the noise gate, the "enhancer" tone-shaping section...

It's pretty much a new pedal, it's an amazing update!

It is indeed an amazing update. I am very impressed with the 74 SF Bassman preamp section.
I have been going through each section slowly adjusting several features and am very pleased with having to make only small tweaks for my Am Std Strat. Wonderful clean tones. I have not even started adjusting the eq section, and am not sure I will even need to, for that matter.

Another bonus with the C.A.B M+ Bassman preamp, it is a very good clean pedal platform. I have only tried the following overdrive pedals so far and they all sound great:

Wampler Clarksdale, J Rockett Blue Note, Fulltone Fat Boost 3, Keeley Oxblood & Barber Gain Changer

I am going to have a lot of fun with this new update. I hope you find the same enjoyment with yours.

    I am feeding mine with a Cali 76->Timmy->RevivalDrive Custom->El Capistan->Mr. Black Mini-Tremolo.

But TBH I am also hanging out a lot exploring the new features of the CAB M. bit by bit.

One thing I appreciate is that they included a new "BYPASS" feature for the microphones, for when I want to just plug my pedalboard in to an amp.
