According to Buddy Guy, he was a bit guarded around other musicians and once “borrowed” (without permission) tubes from Buddy’s amp. However, he notes that Hooker was too good to stay mad at.
I read somewhere Earl Hooker was never comfortable in a recording studio. Though he's having fun on "2 Bugs and a Roach" !
I didn't see him live, but I heard from a bouncer that Earl Hooker would connect with a live audience and let loose.
Sam is something else.
