My CS Tele (bought second-hand on eBay) came with Twisted Tele neck and Broadcaster bridge pups. A lovely guitar, but I just can't find any love for these pups I'm afraid. The Broadcaster pup measures 10k, and I think it's pretty hot, but it is just too raw for me, and the Twisted Tele sounds horrible to me- very stringy and over-bassy. I will probably get a set of DiMarzio True Velvets, which I had in a MIM Tele and they were beautiful pups. Anyone else got opinions on the above mentioned pups?

Can I ask what you mean by stringy? As in you can distinctly hear each and every string played? Or does it sound like you have a presence button? I'm looking for a specific pickup and have been definitely considering the twisted tele neck. Looking for low end with whispering highs while strumming (like notes melting together) similar to an acoustic in a way.
I think its a lack of mids with the TT neck- EQ wise it seems to be all top and bottom

Are you sure you're measuring that right? The Broadcaster shouldn't be that high, that's more than most humbuckers. I cannot find my numbers just now but I'm sure mine isn't that high. Excellent bridge pickup, classic tele sound.
OTOH imo you can keep the nasal Twited-Strat thing. If you want low-end and whispering highs, you want a more traditional tele neck pickup such as the "American Telecaster" from the American Series tele. Pairs well with a Broadcaster btw.

Definately 10K for the bridge pup. A good unit but a bit too hot, just not as organic? as other Tele bridge pups I have had in the past. I think the TT is just not really what I want to hear in a Tele, so I guess I'll just swap it out.

Mine was just over 9k, so 10k is plausible. Just remember that the ohm reading is useless earthen comparing pickups with different gauge wire. The broadcaster uses the thinner 43 wire instead of the more common 42 gauge.

I love those two pups so well I've got the paired in 2 guitars. My.Broadcaster reads close to that, and I get some crunchy tones really easy on a Vox AC30 and on a Peavey Classic 30. The TT is a more Strat sounding, milder pup. I love them both!

Can't comment on the Broadcaster pickup as I have never owned or played one but the Twisted Tele neck is one of my all time favourites.
Agreed the Twisted Tele neck PU is superb!

What are peoples' thoughts on the twisted tele neck pickup as a jazz pickup?
Twisted Tele is stunning jazz PU on a Tele. extremely versatile. Great for Jazz, Blues etc. Another favorite of mine for jazz would be a Lollar 52T.

They are now putting these two pickups in the American Standard Tele's. I have heard alot of good things about them. I have never played them though .

Back Christmas 2011, I bought CS Dlx Tele. It came new with the pick-ups you describe. The bridge measured at 10.2K, the neck 7.8K. Measured with Fluke 87. It had a good sound, but just too dark for me. Both pick-ups. I ended up with a Fralin Vintage w/vintage pole stagger in the bridge (6.8K), and a Fralin Strat Vintage in the neck (6.2K).
Now I have the sound I imagined. I have always loved Fralins Tele and Strat pick-ups.
Strat neck pick-up on a Tele is not for everyone. But I like them.
Also, last thing done was replacing the bridge with Callaham and Stainless Steel Vintage style compensated saddles.

That is true when I play it out of a clean BF Fender style amp. But through my on-the-verge-of-break-up-even-when-clean Goodsell Valpreaux it's a thing of beauty, as is the Broadcaster bridge pup.

I've got a Twisted Tele in the neck of my Custom Shop '59 Heavy Relic.
I think it's a nice pickup, also very good for jazz.
Maybe the above description as a lack of mids could be correct. That helps in getting a better string definition.
If you don't like it look somewhere else, maybe BareKnuckle flat 50?

I'm convinced that there is two versions of that CS Broadcaster.
I had one in a Partscaster and it was around 7.8k - as I recall.
Definitely nowhere around 10k
The one I had was pulled from a Baja.
Supposed to be the same pup though...

So, I bought a 2012 American standard with broadcaster and twisted tele. I like them very much. The tt IS a great sounding pup for jazz it turns out, imo. I've been playing through a Traynor ycv20
20. Treble down low, bass at 50% and mid 100%. Clean and round. For now I'm happy - but always subject to change, right? Nice guitar by the way. Fender seems back in a good groove.
