Whenever I get to thinking it’s time to let one of my guitars go, or that I don’t care for the sound of it anymore I just drag out the old Twin Reverb.

Honestly, for my style playing (poor) everything I have sounds better through the twin.

Why does it have to be so heavy?

The industry standard for a very good reason!

They're great amps. There's no substitute for big clean iron through enough speakers to handle it.

I once saw a description of the Twin sound that was something along the lines of "it makes your guitar strings sound as if they were cables on a suspension bridge" and I think I agree with that.

    If that's a 60's Twin...well, yeah...

    best I can tell it’s a ‘75 that a previous owner blackfaced. It’s a great sounding amp.

A Twin Reverb is a valuable member of the musical team because it makes every other member of the team better.

If it weren't so heavy, it wouldn't be so awesome! I mean, those transformers & speakers and the cabinet to hold it all can't exactly be made of bubblewrap. That wouldn't sound nearly as good. ;)

Once upon a time, I had a 70s silverface. I didn't know how good I had it, too clueless. At the time, it seemed like having money was better. <sigh> If one of those fell into my lap today, I'd never let it go.

Wouldn't a '75 have a master volume? I have a '74 and it has the master volume. Unless they replaced the faceplate as well, and it covered the hole where the MV pot was originally.

It has a replacement faceplate. Not sure what voodoo was involved eliminating the master volume. Not sure I’m smart enough to understand if someone told me.

Used to have a super twin so I certainly understand. Now I do the same with a 6505+, just as heavy.

This is a '73 Twin I did a total, complete top-to-bottom makeover to sometime in the early-mid 2000's I think.

Faceplate is a repro BF, wheat grille, Marshall White Elephant tolex, put the old flourish tail logo on it.

I wonder where the old girl has got off to after all these years...

    No replacement for displacement.

Love my '58 Twin. But, the best tone I ever had in a music store was plugging a 60's Gibson with P-90's into an old Twin Reverb they had sitting there. So liquid, so warm and fat. Just a great sound!

I’ve been amp shopping and the Twin would probably satisfy my volume and sound needs, but the bulk and weight just deter me from even looking at one.

It was +/- 20 years ago, I haven't the slightest idea now.
