I watched videos where guitarists jump the channels (inputs?) of their Tweed Deluxe amps. Didn't sound like there's a lot of added gain but it sounded good - couldn't find a demo comparing regular to jumped tone.

Just wondered, if anyone tried it, how does it sound like? and what's the impact on the interaction between the volume and tone knobs?

No useful difference at all for me. :(

With mine, no difference at all in gain - the channels are in parallel. All I got was the ability to mix the bright channel voicing with the normal channel voicing. No impact on volume - tone interaction.

The tweed deluxe channels are interactive with the vol and tone controls. Jumpering the channels wouldn't yield much I wouldn't think.

It's different..... Not Earth shattering, but different.

I tried it a few times. Never got hooked. I like jumper in my Silverface Bassman 50 more. Makes a bit more of a difference.

Tried it, didn't care for it either. Too little control over the amp for my taste. An ABY switch, however, is a lot of fun with them.

As noted, lots of enthusiasm on the web. Not great for me. If you've never done it there is a trick to it -- from Robrob's great 5e3 page:

I jump channels on my Vintage Sound 5E3 clone pretty often. While it does not instantly make a clean sound overdriven, it does add a nice "oomph," a fullness, fatness or whatever you want to call it. This seems especially noticeable at lower volumes. Both volume knobs still function, and allow you to add or subtract more of either the Bright or Normal from the overall blend.

Even though the 5E3 has been around for 60 years, I don't think its potential will ever be exhausted. Experimenting with jumpering is part of the fun.

No need. The channel volumes (on my clone at least) are highly interactive anyway, effectively creating blend functionality.
Only point I see is the A/B use.

Now my old VoxAC30TB is ALWAYS jumpered and volumes blended for tone.

I've been doing it since the mid '60's, more often I'd daisy chain amps together. Some times 3 or 4 amps. Imagine playing through 4 Super Reverbs daisy chained together, you could play the Hollywood Bowl. I used to jump channels on my SF Twin Reverb and run my FX through the Normal channel kind of a poorman's FX loop. As far as just jumping channels there is little gain but using it to mix in effects worked okay.

The channel interaction is completely different when you jumper the channels- It's like cranking the other channel adds the other channel's sound to the mix rather than subtracting from the channel that you're plugged into.

It's another whole set of sounds that you may or may not find useful.

I use a Y cable rather than jumpering.

I always run my Mission 5E3 with a jumper cable installed. I prefer the overall tone and the way the controls work with that setup.
It's not a night-and-day difference, but it is different and it just works better for me.

Kinda cool how many options are available with such a simple design.

Yep. With the interactive controls jumping channels really doesn't get you anything more useful than just tweaking the controls does.
