I un-esquiered the butterscotch and brought it back to a real Tele. I installed the Twang King neck pup and turned the control plate backwards ala Bill Kirchen.

The new neck pup is paired with a SD Broadcaster bridge. I bought the Twang King neck pup after reading SO MANY reviews about it here, going back 4-5 years or so in the archives.

This might not be the mac-daddy pup combination but it is killer! It SMOKES!!!! I LOVE the middle position mid bass tone WITH bell like chime on the high end. I do not really have the proper words for what I hear, maybe - articulate, dynamic, 3-D with beautiful over tones. I have never heard a stock neck pup I ever liked and I have never perused a new one either.

Thank you ALL for your reviews. This steered me in the right direction!

Its a great neck pickup. I have one in an ash tele and it sounds great. I like the Bootstrap Pretzel a bit more, but not by much, really. Enjoy that new found neck/middle position!

A friend has a set of Twang Kings in his Tele. Both are great, but especially the neck. Nice clarity.

Thanks for the positive reviews on the Twang King. I'm putting together a partscaster and the Twang King has been on my radar for a while now.

Any phase issues between the Dimarzio and Seymour Duncan winds?? I would be doing this with a 4 way switch.

Sorry, I no nothing about a 4 way switch. I do not have any phase issues and I am using a 3 way switch.

Man, I really friggin like this neck pup!

This sound that I am hearing, I believe strongly, is also due to the ash body. I think the ash body is the 3rd component!

No phase issues at all. I'm wired to a 4 way as well
