This is probably quite a basic question. I'd like to replace the neck Shawbucker in my Tele with a TV Jones Classic, but I'm unsure about the best way to mount it.

Nearly every picture I've seen of this setup uses the wood screws, which I'm assuming would mean drilling into the guitar body. I know there's the option of using clips, but the TV Jones website isn't clear on whether I can simply mount (via the clips) directly to the pickguard or whether I'd need the EM4 mount as well (which looks rather ugly), even if I have a pickguard cut to the TV Jones dimensions.

Can somebody shed some light? Are people generally using the wood screws for a good reason?

    Thanks!
