I want to play Best of My Love's pedal steel part on my guitar.

    Any suggested tunings or tabs?

Bernie Leadon used a 10 string E9 tuned pedal steel so you might want to look at 6 string E9 (or D9 capoed) tunings to see what works.

IMO... you will be better off not using a slide and just learning a few standard pedal steel licks on the guitar. There are plenty that fall nicely with standard tuning. The magic of the pedal steel is that some notes stay stationary while others bend... you can't do that easily with a slide. There is nothing complicated in that song, it is mostly under your finger tips already.

Getting the tone helps a lot. A beefy bridge pickup (tele, p-90, humbucker), a clean amp, a volume pedal (or good volume knob control), a compressor and judicious amounts of reverb and/or some delay.

Best of My Love is transcribed in one of the Eagles Anthology books...and they suggest open G for the steel parts, played with a slide....but if I recall they are riffs that you could easily do in standard tuning...the steel part is basically slides and scales....I think codamedia has the best idea....

As an aside you want to stay away from the 9th tunings unless you have pedals and knee levers on your guitar...

I play a lot of slide in open G and this might be a very comfortable solution. Thanks!
